At the ripe age of sixty one, Stuart started to learn to play the guitar and to compose songs within just two weeks of picking up the instrument. This is the short version of his story, however-- for over twenty five years, Stuart has battled with his mental health, which culminated in stays in hospital and community health centers Although he was introduced to the guitar beforehand at PARC, one such community center in Melbourne, it was during his time at a community care unit when Stuart discovered he could compose words and music. Over time, many songs and poems followed, which, compiled, became his debut album Pieces of Me.
Stuart's music has changed his life and gives him a reason to get up each day. It is his hope that his music will have the same impact on listeners.
HOPE is not too far away - good friends you will discover, a sister or a brother, to guide you on your way.

- Firstly I wish to thank all the people in my support network, for without their help, this would have never been possible...
Special thanks to Maurice of MOTOWN Music school, for his patience and expert music knowledge and mentoring, guitar playing, collaboration, and above all his friendship.

PIECES OF ME was the first song I ever wrote; it is primarily about all that makes up a person, good and bad and in between, as well as my personal struggles with mental health.
ONE DAY is a response to people not coping with the stress in their lives, it seeks to give a little help and gently advice and encouragement that Life goes on.
LADY OF THE NIGHT is part fantasy and part truth-- a sort of a sad story of the lives of individuals caught up in the survival sex work industry, coming from poor countries and backgrounds. This is, of course, only a generalization-- a single fictional woman representing the struggles of a broad and diverse group.
TIME SLIPS AWAY is just a play with words and of how precious time is, written lover questioning and recalling his time and conversations with his partner.
THE WRITING'S ON THE WALL is me thinking back over the years on some of the life and death situations I have been in. It is also an account of stories from people who have died and come back to life, with some discussion of reincarnation.
My last song on the EP is YOU GOT TO LEARN TO LIVE, a fun recount of the things and lessons we all have to learn in life. Some people say they cannot learn, but we all have learned since childhood and will continue to learn throughout our lifetime.
I hope you enjoy listening to my first album of musical poetry and again thanks to all those people who have helped and encouraged me along the way.

People Need a Purpose

Words are truly powerful they can induce so many different emotions and memories
good or bad, happy or sad.
Stuart Williams.
I never pictured myself as a poet composer come musician,
producer and performer, it just came from nowhere. I thought that I could not really be good at anything much, and resigned myself to being someone just who had a mental illness.
I lived on a hospital site for 2 years (October 2017 - January 2020), so there was plenty of time to devote to my writing and my music. My real change came about there, when I embraced mindfulness and meditation, which changed my whole way of thinking and coping. Along with daily walks and creative writing, I managed to take all the negative thoughts out of my present mind.
Pieces of Me is a sort of protest against of how you have to comply with the mental health system in order to fit in with society. I was quite angry when I recorded this song, and it bought all those emotions out which I had dealt with at that point of time. All the descriptions and references in this piece, refer to what I have done or been through in my life. Most people tend to focus on only one aspect of someone's life, but everyone is made up of 100's of pieces to themselves as human beings.
